T Plus begins work on two solar facilities totaling 105 MW in Russia
May 22 (Renewables Now) – Russian solar company Hevel LLC said Monday it has started construction work on the 60-MW second stage of its Niva solar project, which, once completed, will make the facility Russia’s biggest solar power plant with total capacity of 75 MW.
The first stage of 15 MW has been supplying electricity to the wholesale electricity and capacity market since May 1.
Chief executive Igor Shakhray said Astrakhan is an important southern region for the company and it plans to increase its installed capacity there to 135 MW.
Hevel obtained construction rights for the facilities following the acquisition of a solar project portfolio in the summer of 2017.
Astrakhan region governor Alexander Zhilkin said the region supports solar energy development and noted this is its fourth solar power plant to start construction.
